The Key Laboratory of Spatiotemporal Big Data Analysis and Application for Natural Resources in Megacities of the Ministry of Natural Resources was jointly established by the Shanghai Surveying and Mapping Institute, East China Normal University, and Sky Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Built around the construction of the national territorial spatial planning system and natural resource management requirements, and focusing on the frontiers of surveying and mapping geographic information technology, the laboratory is an important platform for scientific and technological innovation research in the fields of construction, management, calculation, and application of 3D spatiotemporal big data for natural resources. With the processing and analysis of natural resource spatiotemporal big data, remote sensing satellite platforms and payloads, and information application and services as its main lines, the laboratory systematically conducts research at the scientific and technological frontiers of big data and spatial technology development. Emphasizing "demand-driven, supporting development, and distinct characteristics," the laboratory focuses on the construction of new infrastructure for spatiotemporal information. It aligns with the national innovation-driven development strategy, the Yangtze River Delta regional integration development strategy, and Shanghai's development positioning as a global science and technology innovation center. Guided by the development needs of digital transformation in cities represented by Shanghai, and facing the major strategic needs and basic frontiers of geographic information science, it aims to break through core key technologies such as the acquisition, management, analysis, evaluation, monitoring, and application of urban natural resource spatiotemporal big data. It seeks to develop intelligent surveying and mapping technology, big data mining and analysis technology, intelligent monitoring technology, visualization technology, and cloud computing and big data service technology with spatial information industry application capabilities. It aims to promote independent innovation in basic theories, application technologies, and management mechanisms, form a demonstration and leading role in the key technology system of urban natural resource spatiotemporal big data, and support the development of urban digital transformation and refined governance of natural resources.
